Gas Technician 2 (G2) License Practice Exam

Gas Technician 2 builds directly on Gas Technician 3, and not just conceptually. A valid G.3 licence is required just to be eligible for the G2 exam, and the content picks up exactly where G3 leaves off: G3 covers CSA Standard modules 1 through 9, G2 covers modules 10 through 24. Bring your valid G.3 licence to your exam date too, it's required documentation alongside government-issued photo ID and your payment receipt.

The exam (EX 02): 140 multiple-choice questions, 210 minutes, 75% required to pass, the same passing bar as G3, but a larger exam covering more code modules.

Same administrative requirements as G3 carry over here: since September 1, 2024, TSSA requires a customer account through their Client Portal before you can write the exam, and you have one year from completing your training to pass the EX 02 exam.

G2 sits on G3's foundation, so the practical difference in prep isn't just "more content," it's that G2 assumes your modules 1-9 knowledge is solid and builds more complex system and code knowledge on top of it. If that G3 knowledge has gotten rusty since you earned that licence, refreshing it alongside your G2-specific study pays off, the two bodies of knowledge aren't fully separable in practice.

Eligibility beyond holding G.3: specific attendance and grade requirements set by your training course provider, confirm those directly with whichever course you're enrolled in, since they can vary by provider even though the exam itself is standardized by TSSA.

The exam covers 15 CSA modules in 140 questions over 210 minutes, roughly a minute and a half per question. Pacing practice under realistic timed conditions is worth building into your prep rather than assuming familiarity with the material alone carries you through the time pressure.
